To prepare gen next for their roles as custodians of our natural environment, eCoexist has been doing several activities and creating products that helps them understand the need to make wise choices.
When we were kids just a few decades ago, plastic bags had not yet come to India - we remember that when the first thicker reusable plastic bags came to stores such as Kala Niketan etc, they were ' collectors items' - not to be thrown away so easily!
The kids of today are growing up with the habit of using and throwing away plastic bags mindlessly, unaware of the damage they cause to other life forms and to Nature at large.
On World Environment Day, 2016 , eCoexist hosted an event called Carrying the Earth in which professional artists and children were invited to paint cloth bags and take them home to use.
As we spoke to them about the plastic bag pollution issue, the kids came up with some amazing artwork - having absorbed and understood the idea of switching to the use of cloth bags.
