Benefits to self help groups 2014

Income generation through packaging of dry colours:

The Rang Dulaar colours offer an opportunity to womens self help groups in Pune to earn an income through the packaging of the colours. This works especially for those women who need to earn but cannot leave their homes to go out to look for work. eCoexist brings the colours to each slum group, gives them a training in packaging and quality control and the coordinates the process of packaging through regular visits and follow up.

The packaging is a semi skilled task that does not need a high level of education and can include any age group of women. Through maintaining stocks and accounts, the women also learn how to manage the packaging process from start to finish.

Income generation through production of wet colours:

eCoexist has recently started working on the making of wet colours using beetroot along with self help groups. This is a simple process and can be done by most women who know how to cook. The women are taught the process upto a stage after which the raw materials are brough back to eCoexist and processed further.

This is a small scale home based industry that can also help generate income for slum women.
